Principal’s Winter Message

On Jan 12th we are holding training for Pre-School and K parents.  A district specialist will be here to share her expertise and to provide resources and ideas for parents to support their students at home.  They will also receive information about UPSTART, a free, home-based, state funded, Kindergarten preparedness program.  UPSTART provides pre-school-age children with an individualized reading, math and science software curriculum for both English and Bilingual students.  Free computers and Internet access for qualifying homes is also available.  Currently they are recruiting for Kindergarten students who will be entering K in the Fall of 2016.  We will supervise your children (of all ages) in order for you to attend this important class.

Our next Open Arms Alliance will be held Monday, Feb. 2nd at 6:00.  From the survey that you participated last month, it is clear that a lot of you would like some iPad instruction.  Please email me back if you are interest in a Beginning iPad class or a more advanced class.  The Open Arms Alliance is to provide a service to the entire community. Please pass the word to friends, family, and local business owners to attend this unifying activity.

SEPs are coming up in February.  School will be dismissed at 1:15 the whole week of Feb. 23 thru the 27th.

Remember . . . . PLC Collaboration Days are short days when students are dismissed at 1:15.  They allow teachers to work on school goals and professional development.  All days are posted on the school calendar.

We will hold our next Community Council Meeting on Feb 2nd at 4:00.  All parents are welcome to attend.  Minutes from all meetings are posted on our school calendar. Please continue to encourage your child(ren) to read each night and mark the appropriate form in order to earn nickels for Peruvian students.
