Principal’s February/March Message

Remember . . . . PLC Collaboration Days are short days when students are dismissed at 1:15.  They allow teachers to work on school goals and professional development.  All days are posted on the school calendar.  We will hold our next Community Council Meeting on March 31st  at 4:00.  All parents are welcome to attend.  Minutes from all meetings are posted on our school calendar. Please continue to encourage your child(ren) to read each night and mark the appropriate form in order to earn nickels for Peruvian students.

IMPORTANT ITEMS . . .

  1. Kindergarten Registration- Please spread the word.  All day kindergarten will again be offered next year.  As parents come to register, we will show you an amazing site for students of PreSchool, Kindergarten and First Grade to work on during the summer.
  2. Science Fair:  All of the students (K-5) have just completed training on how to do the Scientific Method.  There is an expectation that ALL students are to participate in this activity.  Teachers are more than willing to help if needed.  Students are to have their question and an idea of how they test their hypothesis by today, Monday at the latest.
  3. Open Arms Alliance- The last training for the year will be Apr.  Cody Plumhof will present 60 Apps in 60 Minutes
  4. Leader In Me Initiative- We are looking for two parents that would like to be on our Lighthouse Team in order to begin planning for next year.
  5. FAMILY MATH NIGHT- We are going to do something a little different this year that will involve all members of your family.  Please join us on Monday, Apr. at 6:00 for dinner and then the activity.  In order to make sure we have enough food, please RSVP by Apr .
  6. SAGE Testing- End of Year testing begins May 4th and will continue until the 15th.  Please make sure your students are well rested and eat a good breakfast.
  7. Update for Changes Next Year:  We have been working hard on developing Project Based Learning Units for next year in cooperation with Zion National Park. Students will be working with students from other grade levels with the expectation of creating a product to demonstrate their learning.  Teachers will be team teaching and have the opportunity of working with each student in our school.
